summer vacation
So, I took a vacation to Michigan in August. Kevin could not come with me due to school so I brought my wonderful cousin Stephanie and 2 of her 3 kids, Salem (4) and Hope (2). So, on Sunday morning Alivia and I and Steph and her kids hopped into my new jeep liberty and headed up the road to Michigan. The trip up took us 18 hours!! Unbelievable... it normally takes 14 hours but obviously we stopped a bunch so the kids could stretch their legs. All in all, the trip up went ok... only 1 major meltdown from Salem (and then myself). :) The trip home was easier, we decided to get a room in Ohio which turned out to be a great idea. And, I have to brag... Alivia did absolutely perfectly the entire week! She's such an amazing baby! She slept well through the night the whole week and she really enjoyed playing with her 6 cousins all week. We really had a good time, it was fun to spend the week with our family.... and to enjoy the Michigan summer. The weather was beautiful. Kevin wished he would have been there with us.... but by next summer he'll be done with school. It was a blessing to be able to make the trip.

playing with a new toy
Alivia received this toy from some good friends of ours and here is the first time she has played with it sitting up. She even cracks a smile for the camera.

sitting up all by herself
Here's a new picture of Alivia Kate sitting up. She's getting better at it every day. Now she is even starting to learn how to keep herself steady by using her hands for balance when need be. She's so cool. And yes, we bought a new rug. We got rid of our coffee table becuase it was broken and now there is a lot more room for Alivia to play. Plus it matches the color of our couch perfectly. Back to Alivia, just look at how cute she is!

just for Mardi
learning to crawl
Alivia is trying to learn to crawl. She doesn't have the hang of it yet but she is starting to get her knees up and even rock back a forth a bit. It won't be too long before she's cruising all around the house. Guess we better start baby-proofing! Again, I can't help but be amazed at how far she has come and how much she learns every day.

story time
It's story time... but Kev is not reading winnie the pooh, oh no.. he's reading Alivia Allegiance Fort Sumter,Charleston and the beginning of the Civil War! As you can see she is wondering why in the world her daddy is not reading her a story which has a bear, piglet, kangaroo and a little boy as main characters.
